The GHBF emphasizes that there are four key determining factors for people’s health and well-being. These are: diet, psychosocial support, stress management, and disease knowledge.
-
Stress Control
Stress control is an integral factor in preventing both infectious and respiratory diseases. An example of this is the current COVID-19. Failure to properly manage stress can contribute to chronic degenerative diseases ,such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer or mental illnesses.
-
Disease Knowledge
Disease Knowledge: Knowledge is power. People who know how to help prevent disease are able to reduce their risk of developing them, despite potential genetic susceptibility (i.e., family history). The GHBF develops various types of podcasts and audiovisual content that is regularly shared through mass media outlets and social netwoks. Some examples are Univision (Newscasts), Spanish Public Radio (“Health over Coffee Time” which is hosted by Dr. Elena Navas, GHBF’s founder and president).
-
Psychosocial Support
Psychosocial support: This is the essential support that supports an individuals a healthy development, physically, emotionally and spiritually. The GHBF’s philosophy and strategies are supported by scientific studies that demonstrated that people's health and well-being are programmed in the maternal uterus. Therefore, GHBF’s studies and interventions prioritize the health and well-being of vulnerable populations with an emphasis on women and children/youth.
