This past Saturday January 6th, 2024, members of Global Health Beat Foundation’s (GHBF) Team welcomed 2024 with a very fun dancing party!
The event took place in the Ibagué area (Tolima, Colombia), and counted with the assistance of the “International Collaborative La Palma” founders and directors (Jorge Beltrán and Elena Navas, our Co-Founder/CEO), Viviana Vélez (GHBF’s Director of Communications), Alfonso Fonegra, various teachers of the Institución Educativa Técnica Nueva Esperanza La Palma (IETNELP), and other GHBF’s friends and supporters.
The guests enjoyed a delicious “Sancocho Tolimense” lunch (a Colombian typical dish) with its various trimmings, prizes, and an amazing concert by the famous Vallenato Group “Andrés Quiroz y Su Gran Combo”. The GHBF team danced away to classical Vallenato songs such as: “Tú Eres La Reina” (by Diomedes Díaz), “La Gota Fría” (by Escalona), and of course to the “San Juanero’s” rythm in honor of Tolima’s folklore tradition. The children stole the show by entertaining the crowd with their comedy act and shinning on the dance floor.
In summary, it was a great way to begin our 5th year of collaboration and support to the IETNELP’s education and health initiatives in partnership with the Proyecto Educativo Buenos Aires and the Universidad del Tolima. We look forward to another year working together and expanding our STEAM based programming to benefit students, teachers, and parents!
